As District Leader he helped found our tenant association. He was in the NYS Assembly from 1977-1992, and then joined the U.S. Congress. From 2007 until the GOP became
the majority, he chaired the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on the
Constitution, Civil Rights & Civil Liberties. Now he is the Ranking Democrat on that
Committee.
